Audra is a singular artist with regard to the scope and variety of her talent as a songwriter and performer. Her next role was that of a regular actor in NBC's Law & Order Special Victims Unit, in which she was a part of the cast with Kathy Bates and Victor Garber. McDonald's Emmy nominated performance as Emma Thompson in Mike Nichols' HBO film adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winner Wit was produced by Mike Nichols. McDonald's return to the network TV screen began in 2003 as she appeared alongside Josh Brolin in Mister Sterling. Early in 2006, she joined WB's The Bedford Diaries. The following year, she became an actor in NBC's Kidnapped. McDonald's performance in the HBO production Lady Day At Emerson Bar & Grill received her four times an Emmy nomination in 2016. The Bite was a six episode drama about pandemics produced in collaboration with Spectrum Originals in collaboration with CBS Studios. She starred in 2009 as she was the U.S. Attorney Liz Lawrence in CBS's legal drama The Good Wife. In the year 2018, McDonald took on the role of Liz Reddick as a regular in Paramount+'s The Good Fight. She received three Critics Choice Award nods for the role. The actress is currently a guest on Julian Fellowes' historical drama The Gilded Age on HBO.
